This last week marked the end of the Portuguese adventure, a month full of ups and almost no downs, a month of experiencing this beautiful southern country, full of experiences and fun and learning.
First, I’ll tell you what we did these last days, and then I’ll use the rest to reflect.
I can summarise it as saying goodbye: we went for a run around familiar places, we swam for a last time at the beach in Cascais, did some last shopping, packed, and the saddest of it all was the parting at the office, from some of the kindest people I had ever met. Luckily, I am still in contact with them as my boss offered me a remote job doing marketing for the company.
On the very last evening Matteo and I went out to record some videos for CertiLingua, a goal which we reached rather less than more, but at least I got to walk around the city with an EU flag as a cape.
All in all, I have to say that I enjoyed this month a lot, even more than I thought. The city, the people and the country in general made me proud to be European and thankful to the Erasmus+ project for making it possible. Also, a big shout-out and thank you to Mr. Graham Crewe, who was always there for us, working in the background – and foreground – to ensure our wellbeing and again in general making the entire thing possible.
This program and the EU in general remind me time and time again of one important thing I have learned in this life: Great people make great things possible.
