Hola! It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through our time here in Barcelona. Time flies by incredibly quickly here.
The second week of work at the BlueSalt School was very different from the first. The working hours were completely different; in the first week the three of us were allowed to work together from nine to one o’ clock. This week, however, we had to split up and cover hours from 9 am to 5 pm with three shifts. Unfortunately, we lose a lot of time together with this shift system, but we have got used to it by now and use our free evenings and weekends to do things together. The different shifts also have some advantages: if I have to work the third shift, for example, I can sleep until 11 or be productive in the mornings. If I work the first shift I can do something afterwards because it’s only 1 pm. In my first blog post, I wrote about how great it was to work outside near the sea. Yeah, I still like it but this week the weather wasn’t so good, it was cold and windy, so it was a bit uncomfortable.
But enough about work! Let me tell you about the highlights of the last week.
Firstly, on Monday, we went to the cinema to watch the F1 movie. We went together with some people from 4ABCK and had a great time. I really enjoyed the film because I am a huge Formula 1 fan and watching a film about the subject was really exciting, even though a few aspects were totally unrealistic.
Secondly, we went sightseeing. We saw Casa Battló, Casa Milà, the cathedral, Las Ramblas and La Boqueria. You can find some photos of them at the bottom of this blog entry. We also went shopping which I enjoyed because there are many shops in Spain that don’t exist in Austria. We also went to a flamenco show, which I found really interesting. I hadn’t seen anything like it before and I thought it was quite cool. I mean, it wasn’t totally my thing but it’s part of Spanish culture and it was a new experience.
The third and absolute BEST thing this week was celebrating Moritz’s 18th birthday. We went to Opium, one of the many clubs here and it was amazing. We danced all night and met new people from the US and Italy. After leaving the club at 5 o’clock we went to the beach and swam in the sea at sunrise. It was one of the most beautiful moments I have ever experienced. In German, you would call it a “Marmeladenglasmoment”. We got back to our residence at around 7:30 and I was absolutely exhausted, but it was worth every second!
So, that was week two – two more to go and I am EXCITED to see what happens next!
¡Adiós! ¡Hasta la próxima vez!
