!Hola a todos! As of right now me and my friends have been in Barcelona for 1 whole week. On the one hand it feels like we have been living here for so long already but on the other hand this huge city is still so new to me.
I am staying in an Airbnb with 5 friends and its been a bit chaotic but that is also the part of living together and there is always something funny happening.
Since we arrived last Friday we got to see pretty much everything in our neighborhood. FYI we live in Raval, which is basically the most dangerous neighborhood in Barcelona (the people are indeed weird here) and our coworkers were surprised when we said we live in Raval but it‘s fine.
I forgot that June is Pride month. We somehow got into a Pride parade by accident because we had to pass that specific street to get home (i wanted to get out asap but it was so crowded and i didn‘t wanted to bump into anybody there)
However, the heat here is lowkey unbearable so you cannot really do much in the afternoon hours or you will get a heatstroke (the AC is my fav thing here). So, we have been avoiding going out in those hours and taking a Siesta like the locals instead. I feel like us six don‘t really care much about the sightseeing anyways and it‘s more of like „I‘m going out, anybody wanna join?“ type of vibe.
Only here do I realize how poor my Spanish is because just yesterday Amelie and I went out to get churros and the waiter gave us a Spanish menu. Maybe he thought we looked like locals, but instead of churros we accidentally ordered regular WARM milk and some catalan pudding (btw both of us are lactose intolerant). To justify, the menu was really unclear but to put it simply: it was the dumb leading the dumb.
Now about my internship:
Amelie and I work together and we work in Olmia Legal, it‘s a law firm and we have liked it a lot so far. The 3 partners who run this company are so kind and we already went to a team lunch the other day in an exceptional restaurant nearby with the whole team which was so nice. The only sad thing is that we don‘t really understand them talking when they all speak Spanish because there are also 5 other girls who intern here because they study in law school.
In conclusion everything’s been good so far: the city is nice, most people are friendly and very open minded and nothing has been stolen. It‘s also the first time for me being in Barcelona and I love it already!
See you soon ;)
