My second week in Heraklion, Crete has already passed. It's crazy how fast time flies.
For today's blog post, I've decided to show you what a typical day in my life here in Heraklion looks like.
On the weekdays I have to be at work by 08:30 a.m. so I usually get up around 7 a.m. to get ready. As our apartment is near the city centre, it takes me around 7 minutes by bus to get to my work placement, which is a travel agency.
From 08:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. my boss gives me and my fellow interns a lecture about tourism and the day to day activites in a travel agency. Then, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (with a 15 minute break in between) I am working on the website of the agency, where I have to create new articles about tours for the customers.
At first, the language barrier was quite a problem for me, as I didn't fully understand the tasks I had to carry out, but we quickly found a solution to overcome this and now I can do my job efficiently.
After finishing work at 2 p.m., I usually take the bus home and spend the next few hours inside - relaxing, eating lunch and sometimes napping, as I find the weather too hot outside during this time of the day.
In the evenings I like to stroll the streets of the city centre, go to the beach or have dinner at a nice restaurant, as food is quite cheap here. Sometimes I take a walk at the port of Heraklion and watch the airplanes take off or enjoy a drink with friends.
There are many things that I still want to do while I'm here on Crete, so my next two weeks will be quite busy, I believe.
Next week, I will be back with another blog post and hopefully a lot of interesting things to tell you.
See you then! ;)
P. S. Here are some more pictures of the beach for you to enjoy in the meantime ;)
