My trip to Barcelona began last Friday! We flew out of Salzburg Airport in the afternoon, and after arriving in Barcelona, my five classmates and I moved into our centrally located Airbnb. We spent the weekend settling in and getting our first impressions of the city.
Since I had never been to Barcelona before, everything felt new and exciting. We took a short tour of the city, explored different neighborhoods, and, of course, made time to relax at the beach. It was the perfect way to start discovering the energy and charm of the city.
On Monday, I began my internship at a sports studio. I’m working there on my own, but I was welcomed very warmly by the team. Everyone is friendly and supportive, which made it easy to settle in. My tasks mainly involve working with Excel and helping manage the studio’s social media accounts — a nice mix of structure and creativity.
I only work half days, which gives me plenty of time in the afternoons to explore the city. After work, we often go out for lunch or stroll through different areas of Barcelona. A nice moment this week was on Friday, when I joined the team for a relaxed coffee break. It was a great chance to chat with everyone in a more casual setting and feel even more connected.
The weather is very hot, but I’m slowly getting used to it. In the evenings, we’ve already visited some incredible places: the Bunkers del Carmel with a beautiful view over the city, the atmospheric Gothic Quarter, and the impressive Casa Batlló. We’ve also done our first big grocery shop, and I’ve already checked out the Mercat de la Boqueria and the lively Ramblas.
All in all, it’s been an exciting and varied first week. I’m really looking forward to all the experiences still to come!
See you next week :)
