Arriving in Barcelona

Moving to Barcelona for my Erasmus+ project was exciting, but also a big change. Everything was new: the streets, the language, the food, and the daily routine. Barcelona is a very lively city. There are people everywhere, cafes are full, and there is always something happening.

My Erasmus+ Project

The Erasmus+ project was a great chance to gain work experience abroad. I learned new

things during my placement. Working in a new environment was sometimes challenging,

especially when there were language problems. But it helped me become more confident and taught me to ask questions when I needed help.

More Than a Tourist City

Before I came to Barcelona, I mainly knew famous places like the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell and the Barceloneta beach. These places are beautiful, but Barcelona is much more than that. When you live here, you notice the smaller things: local cafes or families spending time together in the evenings.

Too Many Tourists

The tourist areas can be very crowded, especially in summer. Around La Rambla, the Gothic Quarter or infront of Sagrada Familia. It can be hard to walk because so many people are taking photos or following tour groups. I can understand why local people sometimes get annoyed by tourists.

The Heat and Humidity

The weather was one of the hardest parts of my stay. Barcelona can get extremely hot in

summer. The air often felt heavy, and even short walks could be exhausting.

A Different Daily Routine

Because of the heat, life happens later in Barcelona. During the day, especially around noon, many people stay inside or take a break. In the evening, the city becomes busy again. People meet friends, sit outside in cafes, eat dinner, or walk around until late at night.

Becoming More Independent

Living abroad taught me how to take care of things on my own. I had to plan my days, use

public transport, manage my money, and solve small problems without always asking

someone for help. Sometimes I missed home, my friends, and familiar routines. But these moments also showed me how much I could handle by myself.

Final Thoughts

My time in Barcelona was not always easy, especially because of the heat and busy city life. But it was a nice experience for me. I gained work experience, met new people, and learned a lot about living in another country.
