Valentina: Week 2 in Barcelona - New Schedules, City Adventures and a Great Weekend

Hola again!

Our second week in Barcelona has come to an end, and it’s been full of new experiences, both at work and in our free time.

One big change this week was our new work schedule. Unlike last week, when we all worked the same morning shift, we’re now on different shifts: one of us in the morning, one around midday, and one in the afternoon. This works fine at the BlueSalt School — everyone is very supportive — but it’s made cooking and eating together at home a bit more complicated. We all come home hungry at different times, so shared mealtimes are a bit chaotic now. Still, we manage everything quite well and always find moments to catch up.

Because the weather this week was a bit cooler than before, work also felt less exhausting. We didn’t need to take long breaks or naps during the day, which gave us more time and energy to explore the city in the afternoons and evenings.

We visited lots of small shops again and spent time in Barri Gòtic, one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. With its narrow streets, historic buildings, and lively atmosphere, it really feels like stepping into another world. Of course, we also treated ourselves to some frozen yogurt — a sweet highlight we couldn’t miss!

Another day we explored La Rambla, one of Barcelona’s most famous streets, and visited the colourful and vibrant Mercado de La Boqueria. The fresh fruit, spices, and local snacks there are amazing — the market is definitely a place I’ll go back to before we leave.

But the real highlight of the week was the weekend, especially Saturday night, when we celebrated the birthday of my friend Moritz. At midnight, we went to a club where we danced until 5:30 a.m. — it was such a fun and unforgettable night.

Afterwards, we walked to the beach and went swimming during the sunrise. The moment was truly magical — the peaceful ocean, the quiet beach, and the soft morning light made it feel like time stood still. It’s a memory I’ll always treasure.

This week really showed me how special this Erasmus+ experience is — not just because of the work, but because of the people, the adventures, and the memories we’re making along the way.

Hasta la próxima semana!
