Sophia: My first two weeks in Lisbon!

Ben-Venida!

On Saturday, 4 July, we arrived early in the morning, to be precise at 8 o’clock. After we got our bags, we took an Uber to our accommodation, where we had to wait nearly an hour because they forgot to leave the key outside. After all the waiting, we did a little grocery shopping, which was fun, and explored Belém a little. That’s the district of Lisbon where we live.

On Sunday, we took the bus to the other side of the river and went to the beach, which we really enjoyed. On Monday, we met our boss at EuroSegway, a company that offers Segway tours through Lisbon. Afterwards, we watched the soccer match between Portugal and Spain. The atmosphere was amazing, but towards the end, it got really crowded. At the game, we met some guys from Switzerland, and together we explored the nightlife of Lisbon.

Tuesday was our first real workday. We had one Segway tour, which was really fun. Normally, the tour starts at Praça do Comércio, the main square of Lisbon. After that, we visit the Time Out Market, which is a very cool place, and we eat a pastel de nata every time we go there. The tour continues to the City Hall and ends at the famous Santa Justa Lift, which has an amazing view.

After every workday, we went home, cooked dinner, and then left the house again to go to the public viewing and watch the World Cup matches. I love soccer, by the way. Of course, we also watched the World Cup final at the public viewing. It was amazing to see so many people supporting their teams. Spain won. They played really well and deserved the victory, but I wish Messi had won his last World Cup.

Yesterday, we went to Ursa Beach, which is about two hours from Lisbon by public transport. We had to hike there and accidentally chose the harder route without knowing it. It was a little scary, but totally worth it. We enjoyed the sunny weather, the amazing views, and took some really cool beach pictures. Before we went back up the hill, we asked someone if there was an easier route back, and thankfully there was.

Now I’m really happy and excited for our next and last two weeks here.
