Julia P: Our Life in Lisbon

Hello everyone!

Now that I've been in Lisbon for two weeks, it's finally time to tell you all about my experience so far!

On Saturday two weeks ago, my friend Sophia and I arrived in Lisbon, excited to start the journey. Since then, we've already settled into our daily routine and are enjoying life here.

Although we visited Lisbon last February, the city still impresses us every single day and it's in fact even more beautiful in the summer. We haven't spent much time sightseeing in the city centre during our free time because, of our job, but I'll get to that in a moment.

We live a little outside the city centre in Belém, a really charming area of Lisbon. It's full of beautiful parks, historic landmarks, and peaceful streets. Also it is to the original bakery of the famous Pastel de Nata, which I believe are one the best pastries world. We really enjoy living here because it's quieter than the city centre while still offering plenty to see and explore.

Now let's talk about our job. We work for EuroSegway, a company that offers guided Segway tours around Lisbon. Our responsibilities include preparing the equipment, teaching customers how to ride the Segways and joining the tours. This means we spend most of our working day outdoors, exploring the city.

During our tours, we pass many of Lisbon's most famous landmarks, including the Time Out Market, the 25 de Abril Bridge, Praça do Comércio, and many more. It's a lot of fun driving through the city and talking to customers from different countries. The only challenge is that our working hours can be quite flexible, as they depend on when tourists book their tours.

Whenever we're not working, we like to go shopping, wander through the city's colourful streets, or explore places outside Lisbon. We've also visited several beautiful beaches. For one beach we even did a not-so-little hike to reach it because we took a wrong path and had to climb a bit, but the view was really worth it. Of course we also watched some of the football games since there is a big public viewing directly in the centre of the city.

Overall everything is going great but we also had one little shock a few days ago. While I was standing in the bathroom, I suddenly noticed something moving underneath the sink. I immediately called Sophia, and after a short search we discovered a cockroach on our floor. Catching it with a bowl turned out to be much harder than we expected, but we managed it in the end.

Despite that little incident everything is going really well, and we're enjoying every moment of our time here. We can't wait to see what the next few weeks will bring.
