Sophia: I will really miss this city

Hey and welcome back!

I am writing this post right now in a really nice park only 10 minutes from our apartment. It’s really nice here, and I’m just enjoying my free day. But I’m only outside right now because there is a construction site next door. It’s really loud and annoying, but I’m trying to make the best out of it.

My internship in Lisbon is slowly coming to an end. I loved being here and just enjoyed life a little. Today, our boss informed us that we had the day off, so I went for a run next to the river, from Belém to the city centre. It was really nice.

Last week, I went to Cascais, which is a town about 30 minutes from Belém. Cascais is really beautiful, and I like going there. You can take a walk along the beach, do a little shopping, and just enjoy the atmosphere. There is also a beach, which is really nice. Another thing I like there is the huge Auchan. It’s a supermarket, but believe me, there is everything from food to clothes and books. I love to stroll around there for a while.

Apart from going to Cascais, I also tried to buy all the gifts and souvenirs for my family. It was harder than I thought, but I think I got almost everything.

On Sunday, I went to Algés, which is only 10 minutes away by train. There is a little beach, but it’s on the river, not the sea, so I didn’t go in because the water didn’t seem very clean. It was also very windy, so I had sand everywhere. Despite that, I really like it there. It’s a nice place to calm down, read a book, or just relax.

In the last three days, I think I’ve read two whole books because I’ve already seen a lot of the city, either on my own or during our Segway tours. So this week I’m just chilling and enjoying the last bit of sun.

One thing that is still on my bucket list is trying Pastéis de Belém. I already love Pastéis de Nata, but I haven’t tried the original ones yet, so that’s what I’m going to do this week. Otherwise, I’m going to work until Friday, and we also have one meeting with our agency.

I really enjoyed Lisbon. It was so much fun. I loved the sun, and just living in a city was a great experience. I’m going to miss it a lot.

Back in Austria, my family is already waiting for me, and so is my next job. On Monday, I’ll already start working at another company to complete my remaining internship hours.

Thank you, Lisbon, for these amazing four weeks!
