Sebastian K: Where did time go?

As I'm writing this blog, I'm sitting here for the last time during my internship: in the co-working space in Barcelona. When I first arrived here, I never thought that one day I would miss this place. But over the last few weeks, it has really grown on me. The warm, friendly environment, the good coffee, and the atmosphere in general.

And I think there are dozens of places that feel like that. My apartment, which I share with four other people. It's completely sandy, and clothes are lying around everywhere. But I already know that I will miss it. Or the Asian restaurant with the friendly woman who serves our meals. In some way, I know I will miss her too.

Live Every Moment

I never really thought about this before, but living in the moment and truly enjoying it is one of the greatest things you can possibly do. I learned this here in Barcelona.

Yesterday, for example, I went to one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to, about an hour away from the city. At first, I thought, I want to hold on to this moment. But then I realised I couldn't. So I simply embraced it. Even now, whenever I'm not feeling great, I think back to that moment. It helps a lot.

The Beauty of Ordinary Places

One thing I didn't expect was how attached you can become to the most ordinary places. It isn't always the famous sights or the spectacular experiences that stay with you. Instead, it's the small routines that slowly become part of your everyday life. The café where you always order the same coffee. The streets you walk without thinking. The familiar faces you see every morning.

I realised that places become meaningful because of the memories we create there. A simple co-working space turns into a place full of conversations, ideas, and friendships. A messy apartment becomes a home because of the people you share it with. Looking back, I don't think I will remember every tourist attraction, but I will remember these ordinary moments that quietly became extraordinary.

The strange thing with get to know yourself

When I first came to Barcelona, I expected to improve my professional skills during my internship. What I didn't expect was how much I would grow as a person. Living in another country taught me to become more independent, appreciate different cultures, and be open to new experiences. Many of these changes happened so gradually that I didn't even notice them.

Only now, at the end of this journey, do I realise how much this experience has shaped me. It changed the way I see everyday life and reminded me that personal growth often happens while we're simply living. Maybe that's why leaving feels so difficult—because I'm not only saying goodbye to a city, but also to a version of myself that I discovered here.
