As you know from my previous blog, I am currently spending four weeks in Barcelona, working at the front desk of a beautiful 4.5 star hotel Abba Sants. I feel very lucky to be part of such a welcoming and professional team.
On my first day I had to wear the hotel's uniform. A dark blue blazer with a matching skirt, a light blue T-shirt and very important black shoes. I had to buy them and I decided on ballerinas, which I regret after just one day. My feet were hurting like crazy! But now, I am used to them and I can even walk in them all day without a problem.
What truly makes this internship special is the amazing team I get to work with. Every single person at the reception is kind, helpful and full of personality. Let me introduce you to a few of them:
Iván Santos, the head of the rception, is on of the kindest people I've ever met. He is cheerful always asks how I am doing and does his job incredibly well. He is the heart of the reception and creates a great atmosphere. He takes very good care of his employees. If I need anything, I just have to ask him.
Joanna is basically my teacher here. She is teaching me how to handle all my tasks with patience and dedicaton. She is very goal-oriented.
Olga is a very sweet and beautiful person. What I love most about her is her laugh. It is so warm and contagious.
Sergio is the legend of the team. He is incredibly funny and I could listen to his jokes all day long. Working with him is always fun.
Monica is also an intern here and we started working on the same day. She is really kind and we always help each other out. For example when she does not understand a word or a phrase in English. I try and explain it to her and she does the same for me in Spanish. Even though we mostly speak in Spanish, we support each other a lot.
There are also some lovely people in the administration department:
Nicoleta mostly speaks English with me, which I really appreciate. It helps me understand everything better.
Maria is always smiling. She is very pretty and kind. We had a nice conversation about Austria and she told me she has visited Vienna, Linz and Hallstatt. She said Hallstatt was one of the most beautiful places she had ever seen.
So far this experience has been an great adventure. Every day brings something new and I am learning so much. Not just about the hotel work, but also communication, responsibility and teamwork.
In my next post I will tell you more about the tasks I do every day and what a typical day looks for me here at Abba Sants. Sadly not all people that I mentioned are in the picture, but I will make sure that they are in my next blog. Stay tuned!
