Marie S. & Ina S.: First Week at Work

As you’ve already read in our first blog post, Monday was our first day at work.
The day began with us meeting everyone else at the agency. Afterwards, Ana took us to our workplace. We work in a small café right in the city centre, where we are responsible for managing the café’s social media.
When we arrived, we found out that our supervisor wouldn’t be there because she had just had a baby. So, our first day could hardly have started more chaotically. We were then immediately faced with the next challenge: our boss, Luigi, doesn’t speak any English, and the employee, Frederico, only speaks a little. Somehow, we still managed to communicate and got straight to work. Together, we discussed what we could do and how to approach our tasks in the best way.
On Tuesday, however, the café was closed because of a competition, so we went to the agency’s office instead. There, we continued the work we had started the previous day and came up with some new ideas.
By Wednesday, we already had the day off. We used the day to relax, spending the entire day at the beach before going on a little shopping trip in the evening.
On Thursday, it was back to our normal working routine. We created more content and were also asked to design a PowerPoint presentation for our boss’s second restaurant. He is giving an important presentation there on Monday and wanted us to prepare the slides for him.
On Friday, we continued working on projects for the restaurant and created a new menu. As a little fun fact, this had actually been the task of the intern before us. However, our boss wasn’t completely satisfied with the previous version, so we were asked to redesign it.
And just like that, our first week at work was over. We can definitely say that it has been a very insightful experience, and we’re really looking forward to next week. We’re excited to see what else is in store for us.
