Marie S. & Ina S. First Days in Málaga: New Friends, Spanish Culture and an Unforgettable World Cup Match

Hola!

On Friday, we both set off for Málaga. After a delay of an hour, we were finally able to take off. Once on the plane, however, neither of us felt entirely comfort, as we’d ended up with the two seats in the emergency exit row, of all places. After some turbulence, we finally landed safely around midnight. Once we arrived at the Airbnb, we went straight to bed.

We spent Saturday relaxing by the sea and used the evening to explore the city. We learnt that, due to its proximity to Morocco, there are many Moroccans living in Málaga. That evening, Morocco played against Canada and won 0-3. The atmosphere in the city was accordingly fantastic and full of excitement.

On Sunday, we met up with the other Erasmus+ interns, Celine, Clara and Lion. We went out for a meal together and then got an overview of where we needed to go the next day for our first day at work. In the evening, we got everything ready for our first day at work. You’ll find out how it went in our next blog post.

After our first day at work, we headed straight to the football match between Spain and Portugal, definitely our personal highlight so far. We watched the first half with the other Erasmus+ students at a pool club. However, as the atmosphere there wasn’t that good, we decided to watch the second half in the city centre. The atmosphere there was simply fantastic! We were able to experience the enthusiasm of the Spanish fans especially as Spain went on to win the match. We’re already looking forward to Friday and hoping for another victory.
