Marie & Ina: The Final Chapter of Our Spanish Adventure

Now our two weeks have already come to an end, and we’re sitting on the plane with tears in our eyes. One last time Hola! from us.

Our final week was full of unforgettable moments. We met even more amazing people, made new friends and, most importantly, created memories that will stay with us forever. We spent a lot of time with Clara and Celine, and we also became good friends with Jonas.

On Tuesday, it was finally time for the long-awaited football match the semi-final between Spain and France. Even though hardly anyone expected it except us, of course  Spain secured a convincing 2–0 victory. The streets were buzzing with excitement, filled with cheering fans and celebrations. We had never experienced anything like it before. Spain are now through to the grand final on Sunday against Argentina. We wonder who’ll win? Even though we won’t be watching the final live in Spain, we’ll definitely be cheering them on from Austria.

But it wasn’t only after the Spain match that the streets came alive. Following the Argentina vs England game, thousands of Argentina fans gathered in the main square, singing and celebrating until late into the night. At that point, we actually thought it might be the best that we wouldn’t be in Spain on Sunday the celebrations were bound to get a little out of hand.

On Wednesday, Ina headed to Marbella to visit her brother. Unfortunately, Marie wasn’t feeling well and had to stay behind. Ina had a wonderful time though and would definitely recommend visiting Marbella. That evening, we spent Clara and Celine’s last night with them. We started with dinner at La Sole de Pimpi, which, unfortunately, we can’t recommend. The waiters seemed annoyed from the moment we arrived and were quite rude throughout the evening. Our meals were served around 25 minutes apart and only after we asked several times. Unsurprisingly, there wasn’t even an apology. Afterwards, we went down to the beach and spent the rest of the evening chatting together.

Then came our final day Thursday. We arrived at work early one last time to finish our remaining tasks. Once we got there, we received some exciting news: our presentation from last week had made it through to the final, which will take place on 19 December 2026. A TV crew was even coming in on Friday to film the event. Our boss was absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud of us. Before saying goodbye, we agreed that he would keep us updated and let us know how everything goes in the final.

After work, we took one last stroll through the town before heading to the beach. There, together with Jonas, we watched one final sunset over the sea. It was the perfect way to end our last evening.

Today was a quiet day. We packed our suitcases and later met up with Jonas one last time to share an Açaí bowl before saying goodbye.

And just like that, our journey has come to an end. We’re leaving with full hearts, countless wonderful memories, and friendships that we hope will last for many years to come. We’re incredibly grateful to have had this opportunity, and we’ll never forget these two unforgettable weeks.
