Lion - Malaga, I will miss you

It’s been another week since my last post, and I’ve really enjoyed being here in Málaga. The past few days have been filled with exciting tasks and new experiences. At work, I created a content plan, helped develop prototypes, and worked on many other projects. It was both interesting and engaging, and I learned a lot along the way. The people at the agency, as well as my boss Dora, have always been kind and supportive. Whenever I needed help with something, they were there right away, which made working here even more enjoyable. They really made the experience feel like I was exactly where I was supposed to be!

Over the weekend, I made spontaneous plans with Laura and Isabella, who were doing their Erasmus+ internship in Seville. I stayed one night in a hotel there, and the three of us spent the weekend exploring the city together. They showed me around, and it was a really lovely experience. We walked through the streets for hours, talked about everything and nothing, and somehow lost track of time in the best way.

On Wednesday, I attended a public speaking session designed to improve public speaking skills. It was really interesting, and everyone there was very friendly. Speaking in front of strangers can feel intimidating at first, but by the end of the session, it felt a little easier.

Before the public speaking event on Wednesday, I went out to eat.

At Burger King, the receipt didn’t come out of the machine, and I neither remembered the number nor took a picture of it. So, with my nonexistent Spanish skills and my extraordinary ability to stare at my phone and hope that Google Translate was actually translating correctly or that the employees speak English (they didn’t), I waited. And waited. I didn’t want to interrupt the employees while they were working, so I just hoped that one of them would eventually come over to me. So... I kept waiting. At some point, I suddenly felt a large hand on my back. My first thought was, "Oh no, this is the moment I get robbed."But then I heard a guy say, “Hey bro, brauchst du Hilfe?” It turned out I was apparently not getting robbed after all. I explained the situation to him, and he spoke to the employees in Spanish. I’m so glad he was there because, in the end, I got my meal. Well... not exactly my meal. I received the wrong order because it also included a shake or something similar. I was very hungry, the employees weren’t particularly friendly, so I just accepted it. And honestly, it tasted great.

I’m writing this on the plane home, and I still can’t believe it’s over. I really enjoyed my time here, and honestly, I already want to come back. Málaga is a beautiful city, and these two weeks gave me so many new experiences. I learned what it’s like to live on my own for two weeks, how to adapt to unexpected situations, and even how to stay calm when there’s a major emergency operation happening right next to you in a foreign country.

So I’m leaving with a camera roll full of memories and a suitcase that somehow feels heavier than when I arrived. Thank you to everyone who was with me and made this experience fantastic!
