Hi, I'm Kerem and I'm currently working in Barcelona for a month thanks to the Erasmus+ programme. I've now completed the first week and would like to share some of my experiences and thoughts.
I'm staying with two other classmates in an Airbnb flat that we booked together. The location is unusual to say the least, but I suppose this is typical of the Spanish. I'm personally really satisfied with our flat for the next four weeks, although there is room for improvement. The dryer only works intermittently, if at all. Part of the shower cubicle is missing, meaning all the water splashes out when you shower. There's also a windowless room with hardly any space, but I suppose you can't complain since we're experiencing Spanish living conditions.
On the day we arrived, we had to buy tickets to use all the public transport around the city. During the day, we decided to rest. We had a few plans for the weekend that we put into practice, including visiting the Ramblas and the famous Sagrada Família cathedral, where we enjoyed a good meal with a view. We also did some important grocery shopping and went shopping in clothes stores that we don't have here. That was our first weekend.
Then came Monday, the start of the working week. We had a meeting with the agency at 9am that included some important information. Afterwards, everyone headed to work. This week, I developed some valuable skills working in the office of the Golden Pop escape room, one of the best in the world and the best in Spain. It's a great experience to work for a company like this because, in my opinion, it's much more interesting than a boring office job. I was given the opportunity to oversee the entire escape room operation and even take on the role of the Game Master. I also attended a meeting with the marketing board, as creativity, marketing and promotion are mainly my responsibility.
Overall, I found my first two weeks very enjoyable.
