Julia S: Today I lost my sock

Our workplace is a dog rescue center, and one of our daily tasks is to clean the cages. Since this can get quite messy, it’s recommended to wear rubber boots. However, if you are dumb enough, you might end up pouring a ton of water inside those boots — which might have happened to me today. I thought it would be smart to wring out my wet sock and leave it outside in the sun to dry. When we finished our shift, I wanted to put it back on — but I couldn’t find it anymore.. I suppose someone tossed it into the clothes bin by mistake. :(

Apart from that little mishap, I really enjoy our work here. There are many other interns like us, and some of them are really nice. We are assigned to different areas of the rescue center, and I’m pretty sure we’re working in the section with the dogs that nobody wants. Even though most of them are incredibly sweet, a few can be quite exhausting. There is a small garden outside, and two of the dogs have decided it’s their “territory.” Every time you try to step outside, they bark at you, which can be pretty intimidating — even though they’re not that big.
Anyway, our work here is about 50% actual cleaning and 50% playing with the dogs:)
