On Sunday morning, the day didn’t start with packing but with me coming down with an ear infection. I went straight to the doctor and he prescribed me antibiotics, which I hoped would kick in quickly. In the afternoon, I had such a high fever that I could barely move. My sister had to pack my suitcase for me, and I was hoping for a miracle. By the evening I was feeling a little better and decided to go ahead with the flight.
Early on Monday morning, still with a severe earache, I made my way to the airport; luckily, everything went well! After arriving in Barcelona at eight o’clock on Monday morning, we went straight to the agency meeting. And after getting to know the company, we went for a short, relaxed stroll through the city. In the afternoon, we checked into the student hall of residence. We were very happy with the rooms. The kitchen, however, was dirty and had hardly any kitchenware. So we ordered some food.
The next day, I was allowed to work from home as my ear infection was still there. It was slowly getting better, but I didn’t want to overexert myself. I spent the day at home so that I could finally get back to full fitness over the next few days. By Wednesday I was feeling much better, and I’d also got through my first proper day at work.
I work for a location agency. So my responsibilities include researching potential new locations and putting together photos and videos for Instagram. So we look for places, flats, houses, streets and squares where, for example, a music video or an advert could be filmed. Unfortunately, my commute is quite long. I travel 50 minutes to work every day, and now that I’ve finished my A-levels, I’m no longer used to getting up early.
On Wednesday and Thursday Elena and I just went for walks around town. We also had a look at the swimming pool, but unfortunately I couldn’t go in because of my ears. At the weekend we were out and about in town as well. Shopping, good food and people-watching in cafés were on our list. On Saturday morning, I even had breakfast at a really cute café, which was very close to the sea. So a walk was the perfect thing to do – it was amazing!!
I really enjoyed my first week here in Barcelona!!
