Gabriela: My second week in Lisbon

My second week in Lisbon was just as amazing as the first. On Tuesday, we said goodbye to two Spanish roommates by watching the Spain-France game together and then heading out for the night.

After a week of work I was keen on exploring the city a bit more. On Saturday I visited the MAAT (Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology), which consisting of a modern art gallery and a decommissioned coal power plant. The coal power plant didn’t only explain how electricity was produced back then, but also pointed out the significance of renewable energy sources. Over all, it was incredibly interesting and informative. In the afternoon, I went to the Lx Factory, an arts center not far from the MAAT. There, I explored numerous small shops and workshops selling handmade products, ranging from jewelry and ceramics to clothing. As a finish, I paid a visit to the oldest cathedral in town, the Sé de Lisboa.

On Sunday, I spent the morning at the Oceanário de Lisboa. It is home to one of the largest aquariums in Europe, and it was fascinating to see the diverse marine life. In the afternoon, I visited the Lisbon Military Museum, which featured artillery throughout portuguese history.

Now, I’m at the halfway point of my stay. It’s hard to believe two weeks have already passed! Next weekend will be my last full weekend in Lisbon, and I plan to make it the best one yet. Thanks for reading!
