Angelina: between work, beach and culture

¡Hola a todos!

Now two weeks are already over and I am halfway through my Erasmus+ stay in Málaga. The time is flying by.

As I didn’t tell you so much about my work last week, I will start with that. I am working in a small hotel with only 12 rooms, called Hotel Elcano, just a few minutes away from my apartment by bus. An advantage for me are my working hours as I only work from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday to Friday. That is brilliant, because then afterwards I can recharge my batteries at the beach. Further I really enjoy working there, not only because my colleagues are absolute angels but also because there is always something new and different happening. Normally we are always two people working there, so me and one of my colleagues. Mainly I am working at the reception, which includes not only check-in and check-out but also handling reservations and bookings via different platforms. In addition, I help clients with any questions that arise and sometimes I also have to translate mainly from English or Italian to Spanish and vice versa. Moreover together with my colleague we prepare and serve breakfast to the hotel guests. Obviously as we are only two people working a day, we also have to clean the rooms for the new arrivals and ensure that everything is to their satisfaction.

This Saturday I decided to leave Málaga and go to a beautiful white village just situated an hour away by bus. In Nerja I spent a wonderful day strolling through the streets and enjoying some typical Spanish tapas. Often when you order a drink a tapa is included for free. Great, isn’t it? The rest of my afternoon I spent at the beach, but there were some truly high waves, so going into the water was not so easy.

I really have to tell you about this one museum I absolutely enjoyed visiting this week. „Museo del Automóvil y la Moda“ is located in the ancient tobacco factory and exhibits classic cars, beautiful fashion and art. It never crossed my mind to combine fashion and cars in a museum but I definitely love this idea. The best part was that every Sunday they start the motor of three classic cars and tell you more about them.

This week was the last one for the other girls living with me, as they went home on Sunday, but we had a great time together and I hope to see them again some day.

So far I am loving my time abroad and I am glad I did go on this adventure on my own.

Besitos,

Angelina
