Angelina: A week with initial trouble

¡Hola a todos!

I can only say what a first week! But let’s start from the beginning.

Saturday 28th of July: I was on my way to the train station to catch the Railjet to Munich. 10 minutes before the departure I got a message from the airline that my flight was cancelled. They gave me three options to rebook but it didn’t work. So I decided to take the train to the airport and arrange something there. On my way I got another message saying they already rebooked me onto a flight to Madrid and then from there to Málaga. As luck was not on my side today, I could only check in online for the flight to Madrid. Then in Munich at the airport the next problem awaited me. The airline did book a ticket but with no checked luggage, so 90€ out of my pocket for a suitcase that is going to make some more problems later, which I didn’t know at this point. From here on everything went smoothly, on the flight to Madrid I talked to a girl going to Thailand and in Madrid I went to get my boarding pass and waited for my flight. Once landed in Málaga the horror awaited me at the baggage claim. 15 minutes passed then another and another, but my suitcase wasn’t in sight. A very nice lady, whose suitcase also wasn’t there helped me to find an information desk to fill out a form. Tired and with no energy left I found my way to my host family. For me this meant now to go shopping on a Sunday, at least some stores were open, so I found the basic necessities and some clothes. With little hope left the day passed and still nothing regarding my luggage :(

At work at least everything went great, they are super-friendly and even if language barriers get in between we find our way to communicate.

Also with the two girls staying at the same place as me, I am getting along very well. We already did some fun activities together. We strolled through the city centre and afterwards ate pizza at the beach while enjoying the evening sun.

Then on Monday luckily my suitcase was found and on the way to my apartment. Nervously I waited the whole day, but nothing was delivered. Then at 9 p.m. finally it was here and not totally damaged, only dirty. At least I now have all my things, but what a start in this adventure of four weeks in Málaga.

On Wednesday I did something very spontaneous, I called a hairdresser five minutes from my place and got an appointment on the same day. Now my hair is 10 centimetres shorter and it is a lot more comfortable in this hot weather.

After initial troubles I finally found a routine for myself: after work and lunch I relax the Spanish way for about an hour. After the siesta I often go to the beach or to the city centre for sightseeing. For example I already went to some art museums which, by the way, exhibit truly amazing works or once we all together went on a boat ride in the evening. But the best part was when we watched Garfield in Spanish at the beach at 10 p.m. You only find things like that in Spain.

Well, that was now a quick summary of my first week. Stay tuned for the next one.

Besitos
