Anesa B.: My Erasmus+ Adventure in Barcelona

These last three weeks in Barcelona have been an unforgettable adventure. Through the Erasmus+ programme, I had the opportunity to complete my school internship in Barcelona. I worked as a helper at the Blue Salt Surf School Summer Camp together with Diana and Roem. It was an amazing experience that helped me improve both my Spanish and my English, become more independent, and learn about a different culture.
Working with the children was one of the best parts of my internship. On my first day, I was a little nervous because everything was new, and I wasn’t sure if the language barrier would be a problem. However, my colleagues were very friendly and made me feel welcome right away. During my first two weeks, there were also three interns from France, which made settling in much easier.
After work, I often relaxed at the beach because it was usually too hot to explore the city during the day. In the evenings and on weekends, we made the most of our time by visiting famous landmarks and popular spots around Barcelona.
Living in another country taught me many important life lessons. I learned how to manage my time, solve problems on my own, and adapt to new situations. I also met people from different countries, which made the experience even more interesting.
Some of my personal highlights were, of course, the Sagrada Família and the Parc de la Ciutadella. Pictures and words are simply not enough to describe the beauty of this city. The beach was also a great place to relax and meet new people. One of my favourite memories was watching the World Cup final on July 19. The streets were packed with people celebrating their campeones, and the atmosphere was incredible. Everyone was singing, cheering, and waving flags, making it an unforgettable experience. Being surrounded by so much excitement and passion for football was something I will never forget.
The time has flown by far too quickly, and even though I still have one week left, I’m already not sure if I want to leave this routine behind. I’ve made so many great memories, met amazing people, and learned a lot about myself. I’m looking forward to making the most of my last week before heading home, and I know that I will always remember my time in Barcelona.
