Amelie E: Quiet Moments and a Familiar Face

This week in Barcelona felt a bit slower than the others. I started to notice that I was often on my own — and even though I enjoy exploring the city, it sometimes felt a little lonely. I missed having someone to talk to or share small moments with.

I already knew that my cousin would be in Barcelona around this time, but we hadn’t made any plans to meet. Then one day, I saw her location on my phone — she wasn’t far away! She was here on a confirmation trip with some relatives. Everything happened really quickly, but I decided to go find them. It was such a nice surprise to see her and spend some time together, even if it was short and unplanned. It really made me feel less alone.

One new thing I’ve come to love is being by the sea at night. During the day, the beach is full of people, music, and movement — it’s fun, but also loud and busy. At night, everything is calm. There’s no crowd, no stress. Just the sound of the waves and the cool air. It’s become one of my favourite ways to end the day.

One evening, I also visited Las Arenas, the old bullring that’s now a shopping center. I went up to the rooftop and looked out over the city at night. The view was beautiful — all the lights, the calm streets, and the soft breeze made it feel almost magical. It was one of those quiet moments that reminded me how special this city really is.
