Amelie E: New Friends, Family Time & a Bit of Bad Luck

This weekend something really nice happened. I was sitting alone in a restaurant, just having dinner by myself, when two girls at the table next to me suddenly asked if I wanted to join them. I was a bit surprised, but of course I said yes — and I’m so glad I did! We had a great evening and even went to a bar together afterward. We talked, laughed, and really enjoyed the night.

We got along so well that we already made plans for the next day. We spent the afternoon at the beach and later walked through the city together in the evening. The day after that, we met again — and tonight, we’re also planning to meet up. It feels so nice to have met people I can share my time here with. It makes everything even more fun.

On Wednesday, my parents arrived in Barcelona. After work, I showed them around — we went to the beach, walked down Las Ramblas, and visited Casa Batlló and Casa Milà. At Casa Milà, we even had a guided tour in the evening, followed by a light show on the rooftop. It was such a special experience!

Yesterday, we visited the FC Barcelona Museum, which was really interesting. After that, we went to Torre Glòries, where we enjoyed the view over the city and climbed around in a net made of ropes high above the ground. It was fun and also a little scary!

Today, we plan to go up Montjuïc to explore the area and enjoy the views from there. And tomorrow, we’ll visit Park Güell and finally the Sagrada Família together. I’m really looking forward to showing them more of the city.

Unfortunately, I’ve gotten sick again — for the second time since I’ve been here. But I think it’s slowly getting better. It’s probably because it’s so hot outside in the city and by the sea, and then suddenly super cold in the metro or on the bus because of the strong air conditioning. But I’m staying positive — there’s still so much to enjoy!
