Bonjour to everyone, coming from the small island of La Réunion.
This blog comes from my side of the story. I guess if you've read everything, you probably know what happened by now.
Anyways, last year Alejandro and I were in Toulouse, but this year I decided to do something crazier... I mean, if you read my blogs from last year, then you probably remember all the stuff that happened, or let's say, the "weekend" trips.
So I was looking for something cool, something that not many people would or have done in their lives. I found lots of islands, obviously, but Guadeloupe and Martinique weren't really my favourite options, and La Réunion just seemed a bit closer (8,800 km away from Austria). But still...
Now, before everyone starts going outside of Europe, you have to remember that if you decide to go to La Réunion, keep in mind it's really only for people who love nature and beaches... No shopping. I'm not even joking. If you think, "Oh yeah, let's go to any store, they should at least have an H&M," then you guessed wrong.
Obviously, the boys and I thought about it in detail because there aren't many beaches where you can actually swim, and you can't go hiking every single day.
Anyway, two weeks have passed, and we've seen nearly the whole island. Three words: Nature. Flora. Animals.
I'd call it a once-in-a-lifetime experience because, I mean, when are you ever going to visit La Réunion? I think never. Most of the tourists are French. I'd even say we're probably the only Austrians on the island... I mean, we found some Germans, but that's like 3% of all the tourists.
Now, since Alejandro and I have this rule to visit as much as we can, we decided to fly to Mauritius. It's only about a 30-minute flight away from La Réunion. I think Mauritius is a lot more well-known than La Réunion.
I'm super-excited, but also really in a hurry, I mean, this is the third week already!
Anyway, I definitely fell in love with this island, the people, the food, and its nature. Only problem a mozza costs €8. But yeah, there are bigger problems in life, I guess.
