Well, well, well, I know that for some Erasmus+ has already ended, and I haven’t even posted my first blog but today its finally time. I will tell you about our adventurous first hours of the trip to Reunion Island thanks to Adem. I know. It was 4 weeks ago but better late than never, right? (I hope Mr. C sees it like that)
So, it is Friday 3rd July, the day of our departure. Moritz and I are already on the way to the airport. Due to our luggage it was not possible for us to go all together in one car, so Adem went by himself with his family by a different route. Halfway through I checked Adem’s snap map just out of curiosity. “Weird” I said to Moritz, “Adem left before us but has not even passed the Chiemsee”. 20 Minutes later I checked again, Adem hadn’t even moved an inch. We called him to ask what the problem was, and it was of course traffic…
Arriving at the airport Moritz and I weren’t concerned about Adem missing his flight, no, we were concerned about him missing the check-in and not be able to take his luggage with him. While checking our stuff in we kindly explained the situation to the woman behind the counter and asked if it would be possible to leave one counter open for a little longer. Of course she had to ask her supervisor, the supervisor being a very German women ask the exact time would arrive. After checking with Adem we told her that our friend Adem would be here at 13:40. Now those who know Adem know what is about to happen, but for those who don’t let me tell you. Adem was not at the airport at 13:40 and of course he didn’t park at the entrance I told him to. After having to wait almost one and a half hours Moritz and I had to run across terminal 1 to get his stuff and run back to the counter. Arriving at the counter we received an evil look from our German supervisor friend and with an annoying sounding “Jetzt aber schnell” she let us check in Adem’s luggage. Little did we know that Adem had another one up his sleeve. His first suitcase was perfectly on the 23 kg mark, his second one 28 kg. I was about to go cashout and as the Austrians like to say, I was about to “zusammenscheissen” Adem a lot but luckily for him I found my inner peace and because of my genius packing skills the women was kind enough to book Adem’s overweight on my luggage as my second suitcase only weighted 16kg.
By this time our concern was not only Adem’s luggage anymore but also the fact that we had to hurry a lot to not miss boarding. But of course, everything turned out just alright and there were no more burdens on our way to finally start that 24-hour journey to La Reunion.
