Julia P: Journey to Florence

Ciao a tutti!

On Saturday, Florian and I began our journey to Florence by taking a train from Bolzano. Everything was perfect on the train at first, and we had no problems until we arrived at the station in Trento. However, when we got there, we heard an announcement saying that everyone had to leave the train due to technical problems. We got off the train with everyone else, but we had no idea what to do. I quickly ran from the platform to find someone to ask, but the whole station was a construction site and there was no one around. We then decided to take the only nearby train in the right direction. The regional train was filled with around a thousand people, and it was about 40°C inside. We also had to stand between the seats. In Verona, we were told to switch trains again, and we got on a better train, arriving in Florence late in the evening.

On Monday, we had our first meeting with the agency and our workplace. We work at an info point at a campsite only 10 minutes from our apartment. The campsite manager showed us around and explained everything about the work. Our first work day began on Thursday. The work is very relaxing and it's fun to chat to the visitors. Also our colleagues at the info point are very nice. One of the best things is that we can use the campsite's pools, so we spent our afternoons relaxing by the pool after work.

In our free time we also explored the city of Florence and tried out some food spots with delicious Italian food and did some sightseeing and saw the famous Duomo or Ponte Vecchio. The weather is very hot but I think after some time you get used to it and it is not as bad as it was in the beginning.

After the stressful journey the first week was very great and exciting and I am looking forward to telling you more about the next weeks!
