Florian: My Second Week in Florence - and "the bus"

My second week in Florence has been full of new experiences, discoveries, and a bit of unexpected drama.

Overall, things are going really well. I'm exploring the city more and more. Every day I discover something new about the streets, the people, and the culture. Florence truly is a beautiful place.

At work on the campsite, I’m starting to feel much more confident. I’m getting better at my tasks and understanding the daily routine. The team is friendly, and the guests are usually very nice. The work can be a bit tiring, but I enjoy it and I’m learning a lot.

Now to the surprising part: There was "a bit of an incident" on a bus.

It happened one evening while I was heading home after shopping. I saw a teenager wearing a Bayern Munich football shirt. Just as a small joke, I gave him a thumbs down because ... you know ... Bayern. At first, he didn’t react, and everything seemed fine.

But a few minutes later, he suddenly got angry. He stood up and began shouting at me. Then he became violent. He hit me, kicked me, and in the end, he even punched me directly in the face. His brother was with him and kept trying to hold him back and stop him, but he couldn't.

Thankfully, they both got off the bus shortly after. I was okay, I got over it quickly and just ended up with a bruise on my face. It was definitely scary, but I managed to stay calm and deal with it as best I could. It also taught me a lesson: some people may have hidden issues and can't take a joke.

So that was my second week. Mostly positive, with one unexpected and intense moment. I’m hoping for a calmer third week and many more great memories in this amazing city.
