Alex N: Bittersweet Farewell: My Last Week as an Erasmus+ Intern in Portugal

Aktualisiert: 17. Aug. 2023

As my last week as an Erasmus intern in Portugal draws to a close, I find myself grappling with a whirlwind of emotions. On one hand, I am excited to return home, carrying with me a treasure trove of cherished memories. On the other, bidding farewell to this enchanting country and the incredible friends I've made here feels bittersweet. These past few months have been a time of personal growth, new experiences, and unforgettable adventures that have left an indelible mark on my heart.

The bonds forged during my stay in Portugal have been truly special. The friendships I've made with fellow interns and locals are a testament to the magic of cultural exchange. Together, we have explored every corner of this beautiful city, discovering its hidden gems and immersing ourselves in its vibrant culture. From leisurely strolls through historical streets to enjoying lively evenings at local bars, every moment spent with my friends has been filled with laughter and camaraderie. Our shared experiences have created an unbreakable connection, and I know that we will hold these memories dear, long after we part ways.

As my departure date approaches, I can't help but reflect on the profound impact this experience has had on my life. Living in Portugal has broadened my horizons, allowing me to see the world from a fresh perspective. The warmth and hospitality of the people here have made me feel at home, and the memories of watching breathtaking sunsets by the sea or savoring delicious pastries at charming bakeries will forever be etched in my heart. While I may be leaving Portugal physically, the profound impact of this journey will accompany me throughout my life, reminding me to embrace every new adventure with an open heart and a spirit of wonder.
